News Release: Annual Water System Maintenance Planned March 2 – 30
WYLIE, TX – Jan. 31, 2020: The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) will temporarily change the disinfectant in its water treatment process from March 2 through March 30, 2020. The annual, routine change is necessary to maintain the regional system and year round water quality.

NEED FOR DISINFECTION: Disinfection is a critical part of water treatment to keep water safe. It involves a two-step process that treats the water, then adds disinfectant to maintain water quality as it travels long distances through pipes to homes and businesses. Ordinance 2018-01 passed by majority vote of the Board of Directors at a regularly called and posted Monthly Board of Directors’ Meeting on January 23, 2018.
Effective March 1, 2018, the following District Service Policy changes will apply to all customers.
All payments for bills must be received in the District Office prior to the office opening on the first business day following the 10th of each month. We will no longer use the postmark on envelopes
to determine delinquency of payments.
Delinquent Accounts: Payments for delinquent accounts must be received in the District Office prior to 8:00 am on the first business day following the 24th of each month to avoid a termination fee and termination of service.
“In the District Office” refers to all forms of payments; mail, in person, on‐line payments and phone payments.
There will not be any exceptions given to these District Service Policy changes.
A request for an extension must be received PRIOR to the 24th of the month. (Only one extension is permitted within a six‐month period.)

In our May newsletter, we stated Medicare recipients had 100% coverage and should consider OPTing OUT of the Medicare $1 per month membership that would be automatically billed on your monthly water bills. We have been notified this information is incorrect.
